Submissions
Authors, seeking to submit their works to NAULR for publication, are requested to observe the following standards.
Policy: There is no particular time stipulated for the submission of any work for publication. At all times, the NAULR welcomes all work of legal consequence ranging from research papers and articles to essays, commentaries, cases notes and book reviews. No work will be turned down on the basis of timing; at best, particularly where the work is positioned for the print edition, such work may be carried over to the next volume if the current volume is full or has been completed. All works for publication are to be submitted in word doc to the naulawreview@gmail.com.
Each work shall include the name and short bio data of the author.
The review shall only publish original works of an author which have not been published elsewhere. The author of each work shall be kept updated on the review progress of his/her work. All works may, after undergoing the necessary review processes, be published on either the review’s print journal or online category based on the review’s working policy.
Word limit: The word limit standard for each work is a maximum of 25,000 words including the footnotes, references and bio data of the author.
Submission format: The review strongly recommends submission of works in an editable doc format via naulawreview@gmail.com. Any hardcopy submission of work may not enjoy unconditional publication; it may only be considered for publication upon the fulfilment of certain conditions. Any soft copy submission which is not in an editable doc format may have low chances of being published by the review.
Citation model: Every work is expected, especially for works seeking to be published in the print journal, to conform to the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT) Uniform Citation Guides, for all referencing. The NALT Uniform Citation Guides adopt ‘footnotes’ style for referencing, whereby Arabic numerals are used (in superscripts) in the body of the essay to identify sources of document consulted, or the issues sought to be clarified are emphasized. Font type, size & spacing: Each work is expected of the author to conform to the review’s standard font type, size and spacing; a font size of 12; a Times New Roman font type; and a single line spacing of 1.5.
Issues/Print Journal
The Issues/Print Journal is the NAULR journal publication which is published monthly in issues from July through January and is compiled into a volume for the relevant academic year. The print edition is available both in softcopy and hardcopy. The softcopy publication is usually available on the NAULR website but the hardcopy publication is only available upon request or subscription. The print journal can be cited as NAU.L.REV. or NAULR. The word limit standard for a standard journal work is 2,001 to 25,000 words including the footnotes, references and bio data of the author.
Online Category
The online category provides an online platform for all works of legal consequence which has 200 to 2000 words and are usually with end notes and not replete with too many references. In most cases they are simply short case notes or legal commentaries. The online category also complements the print journal as it provides a platform where relevant commentaries in appraisal of works published on the print journal are aggregated.
