The NAU Law Review publishes legal scholarship across two distinct sections on our website, each suited to a different kind of contribution.
Our Publication Sections
Blog Posts
Blog posts are short-form pieces, ranging from 100 to 2,000 words. This section is home to:
- Commentaries on recent cases, legislation, or legal developments
- Opinion pieces on contemporary legal issues
- Expositions that explain or unpack a legal concept, doctrine, or area of practice
- Short articles that raise a focused point or argument
This section rewards clarity and brevity. If you have a sharp take or a concise explainer, this is the right home for it.
Journals
The Journal section publishes longer-form scholarship, 2,001 words and above. This is where more substantial, in-depth legal analysis belongs — pieces that require room to develop an argument, engage with multiple authorities, or explore a topic comprehensively. It may include doctrinal, comparative, interdisciplinary, empirical, or theoretical legal research.
Our Submission Guidelines
All authors are requested to carefully observe the following requirements before submitting their manuscripts:
- Where to submit. All submissions should be sent to naulawreview@gmail.com.
- Citation style. All submissions are required to follow the NALT (Nigerian Association of Law Teachers) citation guideline, which is broadly similar in structure and philosophy to OSCOLA. Please ensure footnotes, case citations, and bibliographic references are consistent throughout the piece.
- File format. Submissions must be provided as a Word document (.docx) or a PDF. Please avoid submitting in other formats (e.g. Google Docs links, plain text, or images of text).
- Formatting basics. Use the Times New Roman font with 1.5 line spacing. Use footnotes rather than endnotes, per NALT style.
- Review process. All submissions are reviewed the editorial team for relevance, quality, and adherence to these guidelines before a publication decision is communicated to the author.
